7 Leadership Qualities You May Not Know You Have

7 Leadership Qualities You May Not Know You Have | Business skills | Scoop.it

Lately, though, the focus has shifted to personal qualities.

Guiding vision, passion, and integrity are well known leadership traits. But there are lesser known leadership traits, as well--in fact, some historically have been perceived as weaknesses.

These hidden traits can be developed and nurtured to help further your career and your role as a leader, at work, in your community, or in life in general.

My favorite on this list is modesty, which I think is a seriously undervalued skill/talent in the workforce.  A good leader is one that makes those they work with look good (without taking all the credit for themselves).

Dian J Harrison, MSW, MPA's curator insight, July 8, 2014 8:03 PM

Some of the best leaders I've met are those that are at the community level....no formal education or training and called informal leaders.   But they are knowledgeable about community issues, are passionate, have loads of integrity and are very humble!  Good share Dyana! I couldn't agree with you more.

The Science of Storytelling | SocialTimes

The Science of Storytelling | SocialTimes | Business skills | Scoop.it

The chemical and psychological makeup of our minds affects how we consume content: Our brains are wired to connect with compelling stories.

Brand storytelling tactics focus on different functions of the brain related to understanding and perception. The brain processes images 60 times faster than text, and 92 percent of consumers want brands to create stories around ads. Because of this, marketers should be delivering linear content with clear narratives and using images to tell their stories.

OneSpot has put together the following infographic to demonstrate how storytelling affects the brain and how brands can cut through the noise to offer stories that resonate with readers....

Meet Their Needs: Using Influence and Motivation In Marketing

Meet Their Needs: Using Influence and Motivation In Marketing | Business skills | Scoop.it
Five star general and 34th president of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower, is credited with saying, “Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to."To influence someone doesn’t mean that you make the decision for them. Rather, it means that you present persuasive reasons for them to make a decision that you want them to make. They’re still deciding, you’re just helping them make your decision.Basically, you show them why they should be motivated. If you’re trying to get people to make the decision to click your link, read your blog post, download your eBook, subscribe to your feed, request your quote, buy your product, or purchase your service, you must influence them in a way that makes them motivated to do so....
