There are two ways you can write a weekly sales report, memorandum style or the standardized report which is a more formalized report. The purpose of creating a weekly sales report is for the company to learn and understand how they are performing to meet their sales goals. It is also useful in tracking potential problems and allowing them to give the necessary solution.

 

One of the advantages of using a weekly or annual sales report is the convenience of compiling them.  Let’s break down the differences between the memorandum style and standardized report style.

 

Memorandum Style

 

In memorandum style, you start with the dates that cover the report. Note down the specific department who are involved in the report and also don’t forget to include important information such as the product and sales region.

 

Give insights about the progress of the department sales and note down the percentages whether they exceeded their sales goals or not. List down the number of sales for the week for each product, or for each salesperson. Include also a summary and comparison of your last report to the present one in order to see how the department is progressing and how close they are to meet the monthly and annual sales goal.

 

Standardized Report

 

In the standardized report, what you need to do is just fill in the information in the weekly sales report form for each and every category such as the number of products sold, the follow-up calls, the number of product returns, and other important information. It’s easier to track sales using this type of report.

 

At the end of the report, you must include a summary of your weekly sales and compare it to your previous reports.
