MIT: 10 Breakthrough Technologies 2013 you should know about

MIT: 10 Breakthrough Technologies 2013 you should know about | business | Scoop.it

MIT's definition of a breakthrough is simple: an advance that gives people powerful new ways to use technology. It could be an intuitive design that provides a useful interface (e.g., “Smart Watches”) or experimental devices that could allow people who have suffered brain damage to once again form memories (“Memory Implants”). Some could be key to sustainable economic growth (“Additive Manufacturing” and “Supergrids”), while others could change how we communicate (“Temporary Social Media”) or think about the unborn (“Prenatal DNA Sequencing”). Some are brilliant feats of engineering (“Baxter”), whereas others stem from attempts to rethink longstanding problems in their fields (“Deep Learning” and “Ultra-Efficient Solar Power”). As a whole, this annual list not only tells you which technologies you need to know about, but also celebrates the creativity that produced them.

Yahoo Gets More U.S. Visitors Than Google for First Time Since 2011

Yahoo Gets More U.S. Visitors Than Google for First Time Since 2011 | business | Scoop.it

Marissa Mayer's winning streak at Yahoo continued this week as comScore released figures showing Yahoo sites got more visitors than Google's in July.

That's the first time Yahoo has bested Google in this measure since April 2011, according to a comScore rep. Yahoo had a little more than 400,000 more visitors than Google did in that time...

The Future of Advertising: 'Pay-Per-Gaze' Is Just the Beginning

The Future of Advertising: 'Pay-Per-Gaze' Is Just the Beginning | business | Scoop.it

Advertising is going to change more in the next 20 years than it has in the last 100. If you need proof of that, just look at the patent Google was granted Thursday for a Google Glass-based ad system.

Dubbed "pay-per-gaze," the content would charge advertisers for the number of times someone literally looked at their ad. The concept is buried pages deep in a patent for a "gaze tracking technique ... implemented with a head-mounted gaze-tracking device that communicates with a server."

"Pay per gaze", huh?  It was obvious that wearable technology such as Google Glass would make a huge change in everything we do.  Just didn't think the new terms would be defined so quickly.

Ahmed Alkandari's curator insight, November 24, 2014 9:03 PM

Google Apps are a cloud-based, hosted service that allows you to integrate a variety of Google products (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, and others). Here is a list of tools that the writer have reviewed and recommend.

It offers eight types of social media campaigns in one suite including sweepstakes, photo contests, and group offers. In order to interact with an app that is included, you need to like the page. It's 14 day free trial. Premium plans start at $19 per month.

2- Blog Upp:

It features all-in-one blog promotion tool where it connects a blog community and media distribution network that broadcasts via different tools or channels. It's free to use and there is a premium version that is available.

3-Fyrebox:

7- e5: Google Apps + WordPress:

8- Web2Express.Social Media Monitoring:

It helps businesses monitor social networks and integrates with some CRM programs. Google Apps Marketplace lists the price as negotiable.

9- Rapportive:

It's a social CRM application that enables you to view publicly available data about email contacts directly from Gmail including a contact’s photo, list of occupations, location, recent tweets, and social media profiles.

10- Desk.com:

It's a social help desk that features real-time customer support via email, Facebook, Twitter, live chat, web, and phone from a single administrative console. It costs $3 per month for up to 3 people.

It was really exciting reading the scoop. It added to my knowledge about Google Apps a lot. All of thees apps and tools are useful to use and access. It helps protect your information and data. It also allows you to monitor your data and your social networks. After reading this scoop, I really advice people to use these apps and to benefit from them. It's also amazing how Google made them all in one as a cloud, were you don't have to worry about loosing informations or data.

Moreover, most of these apps and tools are free to use. Even for the ones that you have to pay for them, it's actually not expensive and really worth what are you paying for.

Technology is really developing more and more and it's really important to keep up with thees developments and changes because they are helping us managing our life and makes our life easier.

What's the Difference Between Social Listening, Analytics and Intelligence?

What's the Difference Between Social Listening, Analytics and Intelligence? | business | Scoop.it

Social listening, social analytics and social intelligence. It’s all the same, right?

Well … not quite. We were asked this very question on Twitter, so we thought it worth writing an explanation for all to read.

Firstly, no, technically, the terms don’t mean the same thing. However, they are often used interchangeably to discuss activities related to social media monitoring (that’s what we do!)

Even more confusingly, whilst they are often used to mean the same thing, they are also used differently by different people and companies within the industry.

Here’s an explanation of the differences, and how each term is frequently used: http://www.brandwatch.com/2013/08/whats-the-difference-between-social-analytics/

SEO Demystified: SEO Doesn’t Confuse People – People Confuse People

SEO Demystified: SEO Doesn’t Confuse People – People Confuse People | business | Scoop.it

The one constant that you can count on in SEO is change – new rules, new restrictions, new algorithms, new devices, new penalties, new best practices...  These changes don’t go unnoticed by the SEO community – they result in blogs. Lots and lots of blogs. Maybe too many blogs?

Despite all of the available information, I talk to business owners everyday that don’t understand SEO. They are getting multiple calls and emails every week, but don’t act because they are confused by all of the information. “What does it all mean...
