I think intervention needs to have a content specialist.  This article reinforces the idea.  A colleague teaches sixth grade in which exponents are part of the CCSS.  As a co-teacher in the class every other day, I found many errors in the teacher thought and learned the teacher didn't know how to compute exponents on a calculator.  We need to make sure we are serving our students by providing them with content specialists.

I saw this presentation at the Green Lake Math Conference.  Scott does a great job outlining how small schools can make an improvement on their ACT scores through their intervention and remediation work.  I also had the opportunity to attend the AbD conference he refers to.

A resource I use as intervention quite frequently.  I assign students videos to watch when they are struggling.  Then I help them with their work.  I am implementing small scale for a flipped type experience.
