Samantha 's insight:

This website is a great tool to understand all aspects of BYOD. There are 15 downloadable resources that cover topics such as implementing BYOD, challenges, checklists, case studies and much more. I really liked that this resource gave both the positives and negatives of BYOD. The resource gave a lot of factual information and various examples of where and how BYOD is being implemented. It also explained some ways school districts can determine if they are ready for BYOD as well as ways for teachers to see if they could manage a BYOD classroom.

Samantha 's insight:

This resource gives both sides of the BYOD debate. The website gives reasons why BYOD should be implemented and reasons why it should not. I liked that for many of the arguments there were links given to back up the reasons given. I liked that both sides of the BYOD debate could be viewed side by side and it helped create a better understanding of BYOD in general.

Warwick School District | Bring your own device (BYOD) | Scoop.it
Samantha 's insight:

This is a website for the Warwick School District that gives some FAQs about BYOD. I liked this website because it gave examples of some rules that apply to the use of devices in the school district. It also gave examples of inappropriate uses and the consequences of using the device in an inappropriate way. I also found it interesting that it explained that not every students needs to bring their own device in order for learning to be enhanced.

Samantha 's insight:

This is a great YouTube video that shows BYOD being used in the classroom. The video explains why BYOD is so important and how the students benefit from this type of learning. I liked that they had devices accessible for students that did not have their own device. At the end of the video, the director of education explains that additional resources and information will be presented through informational videos online. I thought that was a really great way to help educate parents on BYOD.

Samantha 's insight:

The blog on this website looks at six discussions every school should have about BYOD. The discussions look at the technical aspects of BYOD. I found the topic about being able to wireless printi very interesting. It shows that there are many aspects that must be considered before implementing BYOD. Something as simple as printing can cause chaos in a BYOD school or classroom is it is not carefully thought about and planned out before BYOD is implemented.

Dysart Video News - B.Y.O.D (Bring Your Own Device)
Samantha 's insight:

This video gives examples of BYOD classrooms in the Sunset Hills Elementary School and Shadow Ridge High School. I like that the teacher emphasizes teaching students that their devices can be used for educational resources and not just entertainment. The video gives some examples of apps that can be used to help assist learning in the classroom. The devices can be used with everyday tasks such as note taking. The video is a great resource that shows how BYOD has made a positive impact in the school district.
