Brazilian defense sources has confirmed the Brazilian MoD interest in two new patrol boats LPR-40 type manufactured by Cotecmar, Colombian shipyard Social and Business Group Defense Sector GSED.

In this sense, they would have held initial talks during the past Third International Congress of Naval Engineering and Design - Colombiamar 2013 - and would have continued in the framework of LAAD-2013 , last month in Rio de Janeiro.

In late 2012 Brazil and Colombia signed a contract for the sale of four ships of the same type, which include design, construction, commissioning, training and provision of spare parts packages.


The  LPR-40 are fast boats, of 12.7 meters, with speeds up to 27 knots, fully armored and armed with up to four stations machine guns Browning M-2HB-QCB 12.7 mm and U.S. Ordnance M-60 7.62 mm.
