Travel app usage is soaring, but consumers are restless

Travel app usage is soaring, but consumers are restless | Latin America Travel | Scoop.it

A new study and white paper from Neumob provides detailed and proprietary consumer research that shows how travel app users respond to poor app performance. According to the report, 90% of the minutes spent on a smartphone are within apps, as opposed to surfing on mobile browsers. Among the top ten travel apps for the USA, UK and Australia includes TripAdvisor, Uber, Airbnb and Trivago. 82% of the survey's UK and US respondents had in fact booked an airline ticket, train ticket or hotel using a mobile app over the last 12 months. What's more, 84% of respondents expected a travel app to load on their smartphone in 3 seconds or less, with 51% expecting 2 seconds or less. Find out more.

Are US Baby Boomer Travelers Shifting Away From Europe?

Are US Baby Boomer Travelers Shifting Away From Europe? | Latin America Travel | Scoop.it
After years of traveling to Europe, Baby Boomers are feeling the pull of Latin and South America, and the possible push of uncertainty on the European continent.
At a time when travel bookings and other surveys are showing travelers’ increased sensitivity to political strife and terrorism, AARP's new 2017 Travel Trends survey indicates that only 34% of American Baby Boomers are expressing the wish to travel to Europe in 2017, down by almost a fourth from the 44% who expressed interest in 2016.

Love this article!  We talk to many Luxury Agents that sell Europe and haven't seen a swing yet to Latin America. Zika, rumors of a weak Olympics in Brazil and other things made 2016 a horrible year for most of Latin America Travel.  I hope 2017 opens up with a bang for us at http://vipjourneys.com we are already seeing more bookings but many factors including the election can either dampen or accelerate the progress.

8 facts about Brazil’s World Cup

8 facts about Brazil’s World Cup | Latin America Travel | Scoop.it
Photo: Ingo Wilges BRAZILIAN PRESIDENT DILMA ROUSSEFF might have said the country’s ready “to host the Cup of all Cups,” but not all Brazilians are partaking in the World Cup frenzy.
VIPJourneys's insight:

Your article is obviously an opt-ed to scare people from not coming. You have your facts wrong. Only two of the 12 stadiums were delivered on time, but only 5 are still unfinished, and one, the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo, is not due to be handed over until less than two months before the opening match is due to be played there. Curitiba is the real lagger, as they didn't hire a major construction firm to handle its reno. Its a "you gringoes" stay away from our country post and you should be ashamed. See brazilworldcuppackage.com to see the cup in person!

VIPJourneys's insight:

What is with the English World Cup fans?  They are constantly complaining of the high cost of Brazils world cup, finding any reason not to go, this story is total crap. Dengue is very rare and only found mostly in the interior in the flooding times of the year which June & July is two of the safest dengue months on record.  If the English don't want to go then just don't go!!!  The sad thing is that they are loaded with good young scoring this time and have half a chance to come out of their group and do damage. You have Sturridge, Rodriques & Wilshire all playing out of their heads and the old geezers like Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, Gibbs don't have to do everything as usual.  Man Up England and see you in Brazil... www.brazilworldcuppackage.com

Increasingly, savvy marketers know that social media is far more than an entertaining pastime for the majority of consumers. Overseas destinations working harder to cater to Chinese travelers - Global Times

Overseas destinations working harder to cater to Chinese travelers - Global Times | Latin America Travel | Scoop.it
The 128 million Chinese nationals who traveled overseas in 2015 make a tempting target for overseas tourist destinations. Representatives of those destinations, including New York and Ibiza, Spain, spent the weekend in Shanghai hyping their homes as wondrous places for Chinese tourists to visit. But as the number of Chinese traveling abroad has grown, so has the competition for their attention. Overseas destinations have been developing more elaborate services and attractions to lure Chinese travelers, who have only grown more discriminating as they spend more time overseas.

Via Trevor Lee @ TravConsult
VIPJourneys's insight:
At http://VIPJourneys.com we hosted several groups from china to Brazil last year.  We find it hard to accommodate the need to have Chinese style breakfast and dry noodles in the rooms in a country with the best fruits, breads and dried meats on the planet. The hoteliers are not ready for this type of request outside asia-centric cities like Sao Paulo.  Hope they learn to get with the plan, but Chinese travelers need to also do as the natives do and enjoy the local food more and open up to foodie experiences. They are a bit stubborn to change and want to be catered too.
