Everything You Need to Know About the New Pinterest

Everything You Need to Know About the New Pinterest | Book Promotion and Marketing | Scoop.it
For a full review of Pinterest's recent changes, take a peek at this handy infographic.
Penelope's insight:

There are some new things we all need to learn if we are going to use Pinterest in our ebook promotion and marketing.

Some major changes:

o PROFILE now down to 160 characters from 200

o If you link to pin only, your link will be broken. You must use their "EMBED"

o NO LINKS in the description or comments of the pin

o You can no longer TWEET your pin at the time of pin. :(

o No more HASHTAGS # (you can do it, but they are not searchable)

o No more "LIKING" pin boards on Facebook

Well, let's see--what is left? You do have analytics, but you must verify your website to get this feature. I guess we can still have fun pinning, and figure out the loopholes. Stay tuned.

You are welcome, Barbara. I'm not crazy about the new look, but I think we are stuck with it! ;)
Barbara Ford's comment, July 16, 2013 7:18 AM
Yes, it seems so. Just FYI, surgery on my knee went well and I'm progressing well with my recovery although it is now week 2 when the pain meds are out of your system and the incision really starts to smart as the staples haven't been removed yet. Luckily having gone through this before I know what to expect so at least it's not a surprise. Hope your summer is going well. All my best.
Penelope's comment, July 19, 2013 8:26 PM
So good to hear the surgery went well, Barbara. Will keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery. Summer is speeding along way too fast! Take care and talk soon! ;)

Crowdfunding. Can it work for authors?

Penelope's insight:

Authors have typically fronted all the expenses to get their work out into the world. Now there is another choice.

Crowdfunding.

I'm going to take the plunge and have written the first of several blog posts leading up to the launch day of May 1. If you can put the time and effort into the promotion of your platform, you could raise up some decent funds to obtain some great editing, cover design, and promotion.

Now, this author had a dud book, and he posted the entire thing to Wattpad and it garnered 214,000 reads, with readers begging for a trilogy--which he kindly obliged.
