Schuwer beschrijft in deze blogpost een discussie over erkenning van MOOCs en de rol van de ECTS guide daarbij:

 

Voor erkenning van een MOOC werden drie zaken uiteindelijk van belang gevonden:

Voldoende vertrouwen in de identificatie en authenticatie van de aanvrager bij het volgen van de MOOCDe vorm van assessmentAanwezigheid van een adequate beschrijving van de MOOC in termen van leerdoelen, omvang, niveau et cetera.Ten aanzien van punt 3 werd gewezen op de ECTS-guide. Deze guide bevat (p. 28) een aanbeveling voor een beschrijving van een te accrediteren/beoordelen cursus. Deze kan voor het grootste deel ook worden gebruikt voor beschrijving van een MOOC. De guide wordt momenteel gereviseerd. Bij die revisie zullen onder meer aanpassingen aan nieuwe ontwikkelingen worden doorgevoerd.
