In Black Theatre Workshop’s latest production, Stori Ya, that’s exactly what happens, however. The play, which recounts the journey of a woman forced to first leave her country, then her house, is told through song, dance, and stories.

Newcomers unwelcome, racism hearing told

A human rights hearing in Charlottetown into allegations of racism in a teacher's firing heard testimony Tuesday that newcomers were not welcome at the school.

 

Aritho Amfoubalela was fired by the French Language School Board from his job at Evangeline High School in Wellington, west of Summerside, in 2006. Amfoubalela maintains it was because he is a black African. The school board says there were problems with his teaching.
