This informational website has nearly all of the information needed for the chart. It has the climate, soil/water quality, plant characteristics, issues facing this biome, and importance to humans. It also mentions some unique characteristics of this biome. Craap Test: Currency- This article was published in 2008, which is relatively current. Since this source provides a general overview, there is not much information in this source that would have changed in the past few years. Relevance- This source is very relevant to this project, and provides most of the information needed. The readership level matches the level of this class. Accuracy- The source matches the information from most other sources. It has a works cited section with credible books published by prominent publishing companies.

This journal article describes a study done to determine how species living in tropical forests are changing, and the causes of these changes such as the El Niño drought or long term climate change. 

 

 

Craap Test:

Currency- This journal issue was published in 2011, which is very recent considering the depth of this study. 

Relevance- This source includes several other issues facing this biome that are not listed in the other sources. This article also has a high readership level making it appropriate for this class.

Accuracy- This study was conducted by several prestigious institutions and the ESA is a credible organization. The information in this source matches what other sources say as well.

The information is presented in a mature, professional way.Authority: The film was produced by professionals who have notable experience in cinema and the environment.Accuracy: A lot of the information is common sense, and it was a film produced by professionals to inform people about the rainforest; it seems unbiased and there seem to be no errors in its content.Purpose: It exists to inform people about the rainforest in an entertaining way by providing a unique view of the biome and the species that live within it.

Tropical Rainforest Sustainable Development: Papua New Guinea Case Study
Ammar A's insight:

This case study provides information about the characteristics of plants and animals in the Papua New Guinea Tropical Rainforest. It also describes how important the forest is to the indigenous peoples, the Maisin, and the current threats that this forest faces.  

 

Craap Test:

Currency- This case study was done in 2013 so it is clearly not very old and still current.

Relevance- The study discusses problems with deforestation of rainforests, which relate to the human impact on the biome.

Authority- It was done by an environmentalist group in Barcelona.

Accuracy- There are facts and data from the case study along with pictures to confirm its validity.

Purpose- Its purpose is to educate the students of the Barcelona Field Studies Center.

Magazine Article on Affects of Phosphorus in Soil

Ammar A's insight:

This magazine article talks about how phosphorus can be a limiting factor and can determine what types of trees grow in that area.

 

Craap Test:

Currency- This article was published in 2013, which is very recent, meaning that the information provided is still applicable.

Relevance- Although this article is very specific, it does provide good analysis on the effects of phosphorus, which relates to both limiting factors and soil characteristics. The readership level is also very high, with a Lexile Reading Level of 1280, which is appropriate for 12th graders. 

Accuracy- The article is from ScienceNews, a credible magazine with distinguished authors.
