BIODIVERSITY IS LIFE –
The Miraculous Web of Life Sustains ALL Species on Planet Earth – Healthy Ecosystems, Healthy Humans. WITHOUT NATURE WE DO NOT EXIST. PERIOD.  To the degree Nature is sick, so are we.  We humans must reintegrate into the greater web of life as a species within it and not separate from it, by returning to respect and restoring balance and harmony to that which supports all life on this planet ... Nature ... #GDP should be replaced by #EcoEconomics ... Putting front and center the concerns for how we are destroying and objectifying the natural world for profit  #Conservation #Ecosystems #Wildlife #Forests #Environment #Biodiversity #Ecoeconomics #CSR #GDP #Anthropocene

1) Get the leaders of our nations to demand putting a stop to the poaching that is creating economic instability and national security risks

2) Be more aware of the products we purchase to make sure they do not contain illegal wildlife body parts

The world's largest sea turtle, the leatherback (Dermochelys coriacea), is vanishing from its most important nesting sites in the western Pacific, according to a new study in Ecosphere.

"Sea turtles have been around about 100 million years and survived the extinction of the dinosaurs but are struggling to survive the impact of humans," co-author Thane Wibbels with the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), told Reuters.

- ▶ WILL ELEPHANTS STILL ROAM EARTH IN 20 YEARS?   -- At the start of the 1980s there were more than a million elephants in Africa. During that decade, 600,000 were destroyed for ivory products. Today perhaps no more than 400,000 remain across the continent, according to Samuel Wasser of the University of Washington, who is widely recognized as an authority on the subject. It is a tragedy beyond reckoning and humanity needs to pay attention to the plight of the elephants before it is too late.

EUROPE'S VULTURES UNDER THREAT FROM DRUG THAT KILLED TENS OF MILLIONS OF BIRDS IN ASIA. After an ecological disaster in India, wildlife groups call for ban on vets using diclofenac in Italy and Spain. Wildlife groups have launched a Europe-wide campaign to outlaw a newly approved veterinary drug that has caused the deaths of tens of millions of vultures in Asia. They say that the decision to allow diclofenac to be used in Spain and Italy not only threatens to wipe out Europe's vultures but could harm other related species, including the golden eagle and the Spanish imperial eagle, one of the world's rarest raptors. http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/jun/07/european-vultures-threat-diclofenac-vets-spain-italy

Poverty, as well as Greed killing Africa's Elephants - 10,000 Massacred in Gabon alone. | BIODIVERSITY IS LIFE – | Scoop.it

Dec. 26, 2012 - New York Times

Gabon’s government has made efforts to combat poaching, but as the price of ivory soars its elephants are being slaughtered.

The consequences of the soaring price of ivory are affecting longtime wildlife champion Gabon, where 10,000 elephants have been slaughtered over the past several years by criminals and poor hunters. "It is a story of temptation -- and exploitation -- and it shows that the problem is not just about demand, but about supply as well. Poverty, as well as greed, is killing Africa's elephants," writes Jeffrey Gettleman. The New York Times
