If the Gates Foundation is so generous, why does it invest millions in companies that pollute the land in the very places the foundation was designed to help?

t may not make a difference in the courtroom, but it certainly can't hurt in the court of public opinion. Microsoft chairman Bill Gates reportedly will donate US$100 million on Wednesday to help immunize children in developing countries against diseases.

Gates holds a 22 percent stake in the computer company he co-founded that is valued at around $46 billion, making him the richest person in America and possibly the world.

They have driven other companies, both large and small, out of business, even if those other companies made better products.
