Four Essential Principles of Blended Learning

Four Essential Principles of Blended Learning | Better teacher | Scoop.it

The single biggest piece of advice offered by most blended learning pioneers is to have a cohesive vision for how the technology will enhance specific learning goals, how it will ease the burden on teachers, and how it can make both teachers and students more creative learners.

As schools become more savvy about blended-learning tactics– the practice of mixing online and in-person instruction — guidelines and best practices are emerging from lessons learned. Here are four crucial factors to keep in mind as schools plunge in.

Mrs. B's curator insight, September 11, 2013 7:01 AM

The emphasis is not on technology but what technology can enable: creativity and innovation in an ever-changing world.

Melissa Marshall's curator insight, August 27, 2014 2:09 AM

This article basically explains what blended learning is, and how to incorporate technology in a meaningful way. Also has useful advice on how to introduce blended learning within a school.

At The Padagogy Wheel Core: Immersive Learning Targets Engagement

At The Padagogy Wheel Core: Immersive Learning Targets Engagement | Better teacher | Scoop.it

The new version of the Padagogy Wheel tackles a major question that is lurking in the back of everyone’s mind. If it’s not … it should be. It’s about the problem of motivation in education. How do we motivate students, teachers, parents, and everyone else to get excited about learning? How do you stay motivated? What works and what doesn’t?”

iPadogogy, Portfolios and iSense? - Dreaming Weaving Learning

iPadogogy, Portfolios and iSense? - Dreaming Weaving Learning | Better teacher | Scoop.it
Slowly, sluggishly, another academic year draws towards its end. A year of bridges, a year of learning, a year of questioning. A year which leaves me with no e-portfolios to go through.

Some may find that a relief; personally, I find it a pity.

It is never too soon to have learners begin their e-portfolio, in particular when working within an iPadology framework. The question of e-portfolios has been widely accepted but where is the practice?"

This site will lead you to excellent explanations of Evernote and its functionality. It can be particularly useful  for teachers and their students !--Lou

Recordium - Add Visual Notes to Audio Recordings

Recordium - Add Visual Notes to Audio Recordings | Better teacher | Scoop.it
Recordium is a new iPad and iPhone for creating audio recordings. At first glance the app reminded me Sound Cloud. Like Sound Cloud, Recordium can be used to quickly create a spoken note or to record someone playing an instrument. Recordium can be used to trim the end or beginning of a recording. You can also snip out a middle portion of a recording and save it as a separate recording or trash it. Where Recordium gets interesting is in the annotation features. The app allows you to highlight and tag portions of your recordings. Your tags can even include pictures. Completed recordings can be shared to a number of services including Google Drive and Evernote.

Cool Tools for 21st Century Learners: LearnZillion - Help Students Avoid the Summer Slide | Better teacher | Scoop.it

As another school year comes to a close we will soon be sending our students home for a much needed respite. It's time for them to play, focus on developing their nonacademic talents, and enjoy a break from the everyday routine of school. Unfortunately, we know that many of our students will return to school in the fall in need of 4-6 weeks of review to get them back on track. This learning loss is commonly referred to as "the summer slide".
