Three Ways Film Can Enhance the Student Classroom Experience | Edudemic #learning | Best Practices in Instructional Design & Use of Learning Technologies | Scoop.it
Do you remember the joy that you felt as a student when you saw the teacher roll the TV into the classroom? Your students can experience the same joy when you show a film in your own classroom – and it won’t be because it’s a perceived distraction. In her recent Guardian.com blog post, Sarah Marsh outlines 12 ways to use film creatively in the classroom. Building on concepts from that piece, we’ll focus on three key themes here: film immersion, cultural immersion, and student activity.

The growing field of educational neuroscience, converging developmental psychology, cognitive science, and education, can help teachers and school leaders rethink how they approach assessments. While some of its initial findings merely support what educators have intuitively believed, it is also challenging many assumptions and providing new insight into best educational practices, especially regarding assessment.

Here is an up-to-date review of five tools that allow you to create infographics. Each tool is described. There is a list of pros and cons for each tool. All have free versions available, and some have more robust versions that cost additional money.

The five tools that are discussed are:

* Visme

* Canva

* Easel.ly

* Piktochart

* Infogr.am

Providing opportunities for students to create infographics allows them to create graphs, use a different style of writing, and have some fun while showing that they understand key concepts and ideas.
