"They're skating to where the puck was, not where the puck will be," he said.

Lovely (Ice Hockey) quote at the end of this article that fits neatly with the problems of market analysis touched on in class today (26/2/14). Is Microsoft's plans for a single device to 'dominate' the living room based on an analysis of the market that has become out of date?

Price reductions so early in the life cycle of a high product is certainly unusual and despite their claims that Xbox One is helping them to catch up with Sony (PS4), you have to wonder if they put too much emphasis on the value of the Kinect hardware to their new console.

Bringing PS1/PS2 mentioned in class today (26/2/14) right up to date. This 'games console war' between two major brands is long running and will continue into the foreseeable future. Article touches on Price & Product as elements of the marketing mix used by Microsoft and Sony. Very interesting to see a price cut on Xbox one so early into its life cycle.
