Thomas Friedman On 'How America Fell Behind' : NPR | TEAM21: Teachers for Educational Access to Media for 21st Century Learning | Scoop.it

“I wrote a book that I started in 2004 called The World is Flat. And as I started working on That Used to Be Us, I went back and I reread The World Is Flat, and I actually looked in the index. First edition. Under F. And I realized, Facebook wasn't in it. When I wrote the world is flat, and I said, “The world is flat! We are all connected!” Facebook didn't exist. Twitter was a sound. The cloud was in the sky. 4G was a parking place. Linked in with a prison. Application was what you sent to college. And Skype, for most people, was a typo! All of that changed in just the last 6 years." Tom Friedman 9/6/2011
