Banned books is a tough subject, Many Adults are for banning books because they care about what their children see when they are not around. As the opinion of someone who read a wide Varity of book I think that their is absolutely no reason that a book should be banned. In the constitution the first amendment states that us as humans have a freedom of speech. And when society try’s to ban a book you are undoing everything that the constitution stands for.  A school in northern Indiana had a scandal about burning books, many of the teachers thought that one of the books was to vulgar for the children at the local school to read. So they went straight into the library grabbed every single copy that they had in stock and went out to  a trash can and burned them all. As time goes on, they try to convince the local adults that this is the right thing to do, but then again. What adult in there right mind would stand up against someone who was saying that they need to take the vulgar books out of school. No one would stand up for what was right, no one wanted to stand out. And that is why I feel so strongly about not banning any type of book. " I agree with Gabby. I don't think that any book should be banned. Each book tells an important story and shouldn't be burned. A child at some point will learn these things in the book. They don't need to ban the books. I think that banning books is ridiculous and should be stopped."

Censorship and Book Banning in America

In this article "Censorship and Banning in America" it talks about a women who was teaching about a book that uses the "n" word. They had already taken a quiz and the teacher recieved a call from the principal saying that a parent found the use of that word racist. The teacher then had to stop teaching/reading the book. The banning of books has been happening all across the United States. People have been asking "is censorship in schools good?". I personally don't think so. I believe that if people want to read a book they should be able to. Even if the teacher wants to teach a book that has references I think they should still be able to teach it. They could have alternatives for those students. Even though people don't like what are in some books they could still have a good meaning. People shouldn't get to the point where they burn those books. Some books schools are thinking of banning are : Of Mice And Men, Go Ask Alice and I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. Some of the reasons these books were almost banned was because of: profanity, a rape scene and sexual situations. I don't believe that those books should be banned because of those reasons.
