As Ryan and Jake higlight in this study:

 

When it comes to reaching consumers, using social media as a broadcast medium clearly doesn't work. But our analysis suggests that businesses can do three things to improve the efficacy of their social media strategy:


- set the right expectations


- be social


- use the power of customer engagement.


While the study was done at the end of 2012, do you agree that these fundamentals still apply?

Most of us are still a little disjointed when approaching social media for business purposes.  Great to have ongoing resource to challenge and guide us.
