Google Glass - One of the latest pushes forwards in AR technology. It displays digital information on a tiny screen just in front of the wearer’s right eye. The glasses are controlled with a combination of voice commands and a tiny touchpad on one arm of the headset. There are on-going discussions as to privacy concerns due to the nature of the wearer recording everything around themselves with just a glance, but so far the reception has mostly been a positive one.

Just an example of a possible future using this amazing technology.

As we fret over whether or not Google can manage to make frames that complement our bone structure, Google Glass–style displays are already becoming a reality for one group of users: soldiers.

Like most modern technologies, augmented reality has its place in the military too. Giving soldiers a real HUD (Heads up Display) to see friendly positions and map waypoints blurs the line between computer game combat and real combat even further.
