Credit Suisse Cuts 2011 Forecast For Brazil Real To 1.50/USD Vs 1.60

Credit Suisse Cuts 2011 Forecast For Brazil Real To 1.50/USD Vs 1.60 | Outsourcing Alternatives to India | Scoop.it
SAO PAULO (Dow Jones)--Credit Suisse on Tuesday said it expects the real to end the year at a stronger level against the dollar than it had previously expected, citing strong dollar inflows and moderate growth in commodities prices.

Credit Suisse expects the dollar to end this year at BRL1.50, compared with its previous forecast of BRL1.60.

While the traditional purchasing power parity view of the real suggests that it is overvalued against a basket of currencies, models that include terms of trade suggest that the real current foreign-exchange rate is compatible with its equilibrium level, Credit Suisse said in a research note.

China And Brazil Warm Up Business, Culture Ties : NPR

Increasingly, Beijing is using a sophisticated charm offensive in its quest for new markets and resources. It's using this "soft power" approach in countries like Brazil, where it's found a receptive trading partner. Brazil now exports so much to the Chinese that China has surpassed the United States to become Brazil's largest trading partner. Mexico trucking deal to lift tariffs on U.S. products

Mexico trucking deal to lift tariffs on U.S. products | Outsourcing Alternatives to India | Scoop.it
US and Mexico officials Wednesday resolved a cross-border long haul trucking trucking dispute that will life punitive tariffs on about $2.4 billion in US products. The agreement ends a ban on Mexican trucks entering the US that lasted nearly two decades. Within ten days, Mexico will cut punitive customs duties in half and remove all duties by the end of the summer.
The agreement will bolster trade across the border for manufacturing and agricultural goods while also increasing safety regulations. Mexico trucks must now carry electronic monitoring systems that track truck routes and hours of service, pass safety reviews, drug tests, and assessments of their English-language and US traffic sign-reading skills.

A turning tide: Mexican Voters are Tiring of the Drug War | Outsourcing Alternatives to India | Scoop.it
FOR most of Felipe Calderón’s four-and-a-half years as Mexico’s president, voters have worried more about jobs than crime. Since 2001 average income growth per person has been below 1% a year, one of the lowest rates in the world. Whereas the drug war has raged mainly along the cocaine trail, with two-thirds of its estimated 40,000 killings occurring in just 3% of the country’s municipalities, economic hardship has touched nearly everyone.

If Hugo Goes - By Michael Shifter

If Hugo Goes - By Michael Shifter | Outsourcing Alternatives to India | Scoop.it
Until now, the most frequently asked question about Hugo Chávez's virtually one-man rule in Venezuela was whether he would be prepared to relinquish power if he lost an election. That question has become even more germane in view of next year's presidential contest, as El Presidente faces a country arguably in worse shape than at any moment since his regime began a dozen years ago.
