Programme POSTDIGITAL – exploring the future through art

Programme POSTDIGITAL – exploring the future through art | Digital #MediaArt(s) Numérique(s) | Scoop.it

01.07 > 10.08.2016 - Project "Deep Inside" - 5th Moscow International Biennale for Young Art | Digital #MediaArt(s) Numérique(s) | Scoop.it
Every day, millions of people have out-of-body experiences, enabled by avatars on social media, or in multiplayer gaming worlds. Meanwhile, Google Earth and air travel make us accustomed to the god’s eye perspective of satellites, in orbit, beyond gravity. Set against the challenge of dealing with climate change, the vagaries of a global economy, social instability, and the moral fallout from the information revolution, the poetry of escape grows ever more seductive. Lust for an absolute outside powers fantasies of emigration to unspoiled beaches, and exotic schemes to colonise Mars.

HUMAN FACTOR | Endless prototyping - Projects – Ars Electronica Export /// 01.07 > 27.08.2016 | Digital #MediaArt(s) Numérique(s) | Scoop.it

Humankind has been fighting for its very survival since time immemorial. For millennia, we have modified our habitats in going about this. We have been so successful in making everything around us so complex that we now find ourselves in the paradoxical situation of no longer being able to comprehend this world we have made.

The Human Factor, the very thing that has fostered our survival heretofore, is now yielding consequences that threaten to overwhelm us. At the nexus of art, society and industry, artists are now working together with engineers, technologists and scientists to seek promising solutions. The upshots are concepts and projects that remain unfinished, have not yet fully matured, are still untested, or whose outcome and/or further progress are unknown. Artistic prototypes that seek to answer social, ecological and economic questions. Works that inspire, and that are emblematic of new, unconventional and innovative linkups between art and industry....

archive - buzzaar : Turn your web navigation into webmaps by meetopia team (2012) | Digital #MediaArt(s) Numérique(s) | Scoop.it

The development of digital technologies has brought fundamental changes into our lives, cultures and societies. Social networking media user generated sites and peer-to peer networks have contributed to the development of a new participative culture where users have access to tools to create and share contents with peers.

As web users, we spend significant time online, searching for contents and visiting numerous web pages. These actions leave traces that can be collected, typically within web server logs. These data represent potential sources of valuable information for various private and public purposes.

Commercial companies have well understood how useful the above mentioned data can be if properly analyzed and transformed into exploitable information for their targeted audiences. Meaningful analysis, representation and comparison of actions, habits and navigation history of web users can help them to better understand and exploit the knowledge that these data contain.

However, in most cases, users cannot access the generated information that is kept private although the original data have been created by the users themselves...
