For ϟℙ∀ℳℳ▁ℙϴШ€ℜ, we wanted to identify the paths that artists plot on social networks to the convergence of several digital disciplines, to identify the links between the different groups of practices and research, and then to reconstitute a unit in a set open for this Exhibition to be discovered on the site SPAMM.fr

UFOs of the web, flux electrons, artists and hackers of images and sounds, each figure has its own meaning. Together they form a larger drawing.

Beyond the comfort zones, beyond criticism and confrontations, divergent feelings,

SPAMM lives on the web well before thinking.

SPAMM is NO BORDER.

SPAMM is the quantity not the scarcity.

SPAMM is the horizontal space of digital creation.

[C.A.F.E.] Communication Access For Everyone // online exhibition - communication-access-for-everyone.org | Digital #MediaArt(s) Numérique(s) | Scoop.it

“In that Empire, the Art of Cartography attained such Perfection that the map of a single Province occupied the entirety of a City, and the map of the Empire, the entirety of a Province. In time, those Unconscionable Maps no longer satisfied, and the Cartographers Guilds struck a Map of the Empire whose size was that of the Empire, and which coincided point for point with it. The following Generations, who were not so fond of the Study of Cartography as their Forebears had been, saw that that vast map was Useless, and not without some Pitilessness was it, that they delivered it up to the Inclemencies of Sun and Winters. In the Deserts of the West, still today, there are Tattered Ruins of that Map, inhabited by Animals and Beggars; in all the Land there is no other Relic of the Disciplines of Geography.” - Jorge Luis Borges, “On Exactitude in Science”

"(in)exactitude in science" is an online exhibition curated by Kamilia Kard and Filippo Lorenzin about the relationship of dependency between the (non-digital) element and its (digital) rendering which becomes independent and that at some point takes even its place. We are in a post-indexing era: the Web is the 1:1 scale representation of the real world, it exceeded that level of detail becoming a structure aside, now that is not influenced by the real data which in turn influences it.

#GIF Free For All - online exhibition (2014) / Curated by A.Bill Miller, (Computer Art Congress 4) | Digital #MediaArt(s) Numérique(s) | Scoop.it

Animated GIFs can be created by anyone and are about anything. The animated GIF is ubiquitous and democratic. Online, it's proliferation coincides with the developing ways we use the Internet. As a unique and accessible moving image filetype, animated GIF functions on the logic of openness and distributed networks in a time of increasing data surveillance and restrictions to access by governing bodies and corporate capitalization of data-spaces.

GIF Free For All is an online exhibition of animated GIFs created by 19 international artists. By acknowledging the range of contemporary and popular culture uses, this exhibition seeks to expand the conversation surrounding animated GIFs within Art contexts. By occupying server spaces worldwide, by circulating endlessly, by evolving and shifting over time, by looping and tiling in expanding frames and windows, the animated GIF is FREE FOR ALL.

Invited artists were be asked to contribute at least one animated GIF for the exhibition and to work within a few filesize constraints. This GIF exhibition was compiled and launched in conjunction with Computer Art Congress 4 - CAC4 Rio de Janeiro. GIF Free For All will be exhibited as part of the gallery exhibition at CAC4. GIF Free For All was proposed, organized, and presented by A. Bill Miller. It was initially launch at the congress, and then released publicly. The show was also supported by the University of Wisconsin Whitewater and TRANSFER Gallery in Brooklyn, NYC.

The GLI.TC/H 0P3NR3P0 is an open/public repository of glitch art worx. It's a modular art&&archive project serving multiple goals

About the NetArtizens Project

In the age of social media, our conversations, gossip, discourses, research, decision making, organisational and artistic work are “intertwingled" (to use Ted Nelson’s playful term) with exponentially exploding repositories of media and information. Nowadays, our everyday communications are embedded with the metadata of search querys, hyperlinks, hashtags and usernames. To the extent that we practice these new techniques of "social taxonomy,” how can we use them to examine and dissect our individual and collective net behaviour(s)?

Clearly there is a new language emerging in the global information culture: a written language borrowed from the machine, that is, compressed utterances embedded with taxonomies, links, and metadata. This language is literally exploding with meaning and it has permeated our social relations and artistic production. What is crucial to understand about an emerging language infiltrated by social taxonomies is how we use these mechanisms to aggregate our ideas, concepts, desires, exchanges, collective narratives, and shared histories. ...

The "Jeu de Paume" Center presented by Marta Gili, its director (fr english subtitles - 2011)

The Jeu de Paume is an arts center with a strong reputation for exhibiting and promoting all forms of mechanical and electronic imagery (photography, cinema, video, installation, web art, etc.). As well as organizing or co-organizing exhibitions, it hosts film programs, symposia, seminars, and educational activities, and also publishes a range of material. With its high-profile exhibitions of established, little-known and emerging artists (notably the Satellite program), the Jeu de Paume ties together different narrative strands, mixing the historic and the contemporary, oscillating between resonance and dissonance, attracting broad and diverse audiences.

Plagiarism is necessary, progress demands it.”

— Isidore Ducasse, Comte de Lautréamont 1870

Although Dada didn’t invent collage, it was the first art movement to use it to collapse together images and ideas. Dada also pioneered concepts, logics, ideas and ways of working that were later transfused in contemporary digital tools, and became commonplace in the digital environment.

“We are Duchamp’s ideal children.”

— Vuk Cosic 1997

Celebrating DADA 100, and thanks to the open mindness of a private collector, the Link Art Center is sharing for over a year high quality digital copies of original Dada artworks and magazines, and inviting artists from all over the world to use them in their work. Widget Art Gallery, developed and curated by Chiara Passa, is an exhibition space that fits in your pocket. This digital gallery is an app for iPhones and iPads. Over email, I asked Passa several questions about the project:

What was your motivation behind starting the Widget Art Gallery?

Different reasons led me to start the Widget Art Gallery.

The first one is that I’ve always wanted to do my own curatorial digital art project in relation to a space.

The second reason is the economic crisis. So, it was unreasonable for me to rent an exposition space since it was too binding, and three years ago I decided to create a virtual display space that Id thought extremely coherent in order to show digital art; simple to manage for me and easy to understand for users. Due to our needs that seem to be increasingly handheld, WAG was born. The Widget Art Gallery is a mini three-D, single art gallery room that fits into people’s pocket.
