Michon Williams's insight:

Yes, yes and yes!!  For anyone in any industry, an invaluable set of transferrable skills is learned when learning code.  If we've come this far in 20 years, how much farther will we come in the next 20??  I also agree with the tight connection to website design, that was one of the first and has turned out to be one of the most regular applications for coding that i've used throughout my career.  Great and important article.

How CMOs and CIOs Feel About Collaboration - Marketing Charts

How CMOs and CIOs Feel About Collaboration - Marketing Charts | Technology and Execution | Scoop.it
Excerpt...Last year, 44% of global CMOs surveyed by Accenture felt that there was no need for alignment with CIOs. This year’s Accenture study of the CMO-CIO relationship finds a rapprochement of sorts, with 83% of IT executives feeling a need to align and interact with marketing (up from 77% in 2012) and 69% of marketing executives feeling the same way about IT (up from 56% in 2012). But while many see the relationship improving, 45% of CMOs believe more collaboration is needed, and some problems persist. __________________► Receive a FREE daily summary of The Marketing Technology Alert directly to your inbox. Reclaiming Our (Real) Lives From Social Media

Reclaiming Our (Real) Lives From Social Media | Technology and Execution | Scoop.it
How to wean yourself off social media, so your days can belong to you once more.
Michon Williams's insight:

Yes, there can be many ways that the use of social media does not yield productive results (and certainly there are companies / groups that create enticing click bait that leads to lost time), but compare it to television or more passive forms of entertainment... When you consider some of the richer forms of social media (such as curation, research, expanded networking in industry and business) does it not expand our knowledge of the world and how we're all connected? Does it not open up access to information and enable movements and voices that might not otherwise be heard? I suppose like many things, there can be positive addictions (where compulsions lead you to greater discoveries and positive progress), but there can also be negative compulsions that lead you just to act on impulse without constructive purpose.  The challenge is to figure out how to manage your media consumption so you can make use of its benefits, while still achieving larger objectives and other enjoyment in life.
