The talk of Graham Hancock on Ayahuasca was removed from TEDx because TED's scientific board said it is 'non-scientific'. Never minds that TED means Technology Entertainment Design and does not seem to feature only scientific talks.

Roberto Zuazo's Interview

Roberto Alencar Zuazo is a native Aymara Elder, storyteller, artisan, activist, author and educator, from a tiny village in the Amazon Rainforest. He grew up in the traditional way with his family. His Grandfather was an Amauta, a Spiritual Healer, and his Father is a Native historian, Amazonian wisdom keeper, and River Pilot, expert in traditional environmental knowledge and the Amazon ecosystem. Roberto, at the age of eighteen, became a jungle guide and cultural interpreter for European scientific expeditions into the Amazon. As a result, he now speaks eight European languages and several Indigenous tongues. He has also taught Environmental knowledge, Amazonian lore, healing medicine and the use of herbs. Along with his sister Auxiliadora, a well-known activist and artist, he co-founded the first “Amazon Arts School” to revive aboriginal art and provide ongoing income for native artists. They taught traditional arts, woodcarving, pottery and mask making. Roberto has organized ethnographic exhibitions of Amazon traditional arts and workshops on Amazonian Spiritual Healing. Nearly two decades ago he came to Canada and was later granted Canadian citizenship. Presently, he is beginning the process of publishing seventeen traditional stories and accounts of his experiences growing up in a remote Amazon Jungle village.

Anthropologists Behaving Badly: Jose Padilha's 'Secrets of the Tribe' Does Some Digging of Its Own | International Documentary Association | ARTE AMAZONIA | Scoop.it

In the first moments of José Padilha's Secrets of the Tribe, about the anthropologists who study the Yanomami, we learn exactly what the observed think of the observer: "You Nabäs are always such liars," says one tribesman. "I don't like to believe anything you say because you always lie." After watching this 96-minute film that documents a "he said-he said" war of egos fought among ethically dubious anthropologists on opposing sides of a theoretical debate that includes accusations of genocide and pederasty, it's hard to disagree.

Shamanism In Siberia

This is a free e-book on shamanism in Siberia written by Polish Anthroplogist Maria A. Czaplicka

Maria A. Czaplicka is best known for her ethnography of Siberian shamanism. First published in 1914, Shamanism in Siberia is still relevant, because many of its Uralic, Altaic, and Paleosiberian peoples continue to practice shamanism even in modern times. This comprehensive study provides an in-depth analysis of the most important object in Siberian shamanism–the shamanic drum. It may be said that all over Siberia, where there is a shaman there is also a drum. Czaplicka establishes a universal framework describing how the drum as a symbol transmits symbolic meanings among shamans, people and the spirit world. Among the Neo-Siberians all their philosophy of life is represented symbolically in the drum.
