Frida Kahlo's brooding and introspective subject matter also deals with questions of national identity. Her mixed ancestry and starkly autobiographical content has added to the practice of modern art.

My Opinion about the article:

This tutorial is very useful for all those people that wants to learn a little bit of photoshop, in this tutorial says how to remove a background from a picture using different ways to do it, the most common way to use is use the Background Eraser tool. This tool samples the color at the center of the brush and then deletes pixels of a similar color as you “paint.”

When you select the tool that you want, Bring the pointer near to the edge of the person or object that you want to remove the background from. You will see a circle with small crosshairs in the center

Click and drag to start erasing. There is no problem if you bring the circle over the edges between the background and the object (that’s why it’s so cool) but it’s very important that you don’t drag the cross hairs over the edges.

Once you’ve done the “hard bit” and have erased an area the whole way around the object, then set a very large brush size finish off the rest of the background.

Well, it´s the most easy way to do this kind of stuff in Ps, I think is helpful for beginner people.

HOW TO: ILLUSTRATE IN TEN STEPS

HOW TO: ILLUSTRATE IN TEN STEPS | Art maker | Scoop.it
I’ve always been intrigued (and slightly baffled) by the process by which illustrators create their beautiful imagery, so I’m very happy that one of my all time favourite artists Kelly Smith (aka Birdy & Me) has agreed to shed some light on her process – from the first idea all the way...
Luis Arteaga's insight:

My thoughts about the article

It is important to learn these techniques of sketching if you are interested in arts or graphic design. In this case we see Kelly an illustrator who likes fashion and has been part of many projects that involved important brands, magazines and more.

Her style is amazing, and if we look closer she has their methods to create and she explains in simple steps how to create a character or just to create a masterpiece, like inspirations, references,  sketching,  breaks,  scan, watercolors by hand, re-scan and edit.

I have to mention that is not a conventional method to draw, but is functional, practical and creative.
