Cave Tubing in Caves Branch

Cave Tubing in Caves Branch | Art GCSE force | Scoop.it

Caves Branch Adventure Company has some great pictures from their excursion through 7 miles of the underground.  When was the last time you went cave tubing?

"You will enter and exciting world of rivers that disappears into the underworld as you float in the darkness where only your headlamp and those of your fellow adventurers will light the way.  It sounds scary but it is not! It is exciting and fun – lots of screaming and echoes too!  Whenever you look around you will realize that you are swirling around stalagmites jutting from the river and stalactites looming from above.  There are also underground waterfalls and a crystal cathedral. This is a spiritual center to the ancient Maya."

Isola del Liri Italy – A town with two waterfalls

Isola del Liri Italy – A town with two waterfalls | Art GCSE force | Scoop.it

Isola del Liri is an inland island about 100 km south of Rome. And the only Italian town with two waterfalls within the old city limits. [...]

The name in itself seemed intriguing. I have always had a weakness for waterfalls. And it was virtually on the way or only a short detour from the way to Cassino, so of course we had to check it out. And the town turned out to be exactly as charming and poetically beautiful as the name.
Isola del Liri is in fact an island situated 70 km inland from the sea.
The town is totally surrounded by water from the river Liri which forks out northeast of the city only to merge again a few kilometers further south. [...]
So you do not have to sit at a café enjoying the view of Cascata Grande with a vertical fall of 27 metres to find Isola del Liri attractive. But it definitely helps. And after a short walk along the main street through the historical centre to the other smaller Cascata del Valcatoio waterfall I was whirled along and wanted to stay in Isola del Liri for as long as possible.

Abrams Falls, Great Smoky Mountains NP | Ken Rowland

Abrams Falls, Great Smoky Mountains NP | Ken Rowland | Art GCSE force | Scoop.it

Abrams Falls is found along the Abrams Falls trail from within Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Although I’ve visited Cades Cove multiple times this was the first time we hiked in to see the falls

.....

Photography at Abrams Falls. Making an image here that you’ll be happy with once you’re finished requires patience if the falls are corowded. On this particular day, it took about 2 hours to get positioned and get the photos we wanted as we waited for people to move. One of the activities that continues to baffle me is when folks think it’s safe to climb the falls. I’ve seen this at other waterfalls I’ve visited and I dread the day I see someone slip and get hurt. Signs are posted here about climbing on the rocks but they are ignored.

Equipment Used. This image was made using the Fuji X-Pro1 and the Fuji XF 35mm f/1.4. Exposure of 7 seconds at f/11 ISO 800. A polarizing filter was used to take the glare off the water. I used a higher ISO so that I could have a shorter shutter speed to retain some detail and texture in the flowing water.
