Are High School Sports too Competitive?

The answer is no! High school sports are not getting too competitive for these reasons; they build self motivation and discipline in kids, they prepare them for the competitive world outside of high school, and the kids can be part of something other than not doing anything.

Sports for young adults build discipline and self motivation. Athletics can make kids see what they're capable of outside of the classroom, and allow that to lead them to more confidence and self motivation. One thing that kids do need is discipline. Making a kid know he's not the best and needs to work harder could benefit their work ethic and raise their level of competition.

Sports in high school prepare them for the competitive outside world. Being in a competitive high school program where you have to prove yourself and compete for positions can benefit kids when they start working and have to do the same thing. If a kid isn't competing in high school, they will less likely be prepared to compete in a working environment unless they are competitive in the classroom. Proven fact, some of the most successful people in the America have dedicated most of their success to their hard work in high school.

It gives kids the chance to be part of something other than not doing anything. 2 to 3hrs after school seems like a lot, but it should be worth it to know that you are representing your school in some way. What else would the kids be doing? Kids do be up to a lot in 2hrs after school, These sports will help them stay out of trouble and be inspired not to get in trouble.

I strongly believe that people need to start looking at competitive sports as life preparation. Without them our kids wouldn't be as prepared as they should for when they leave high school.
