A Spanish team wins the Promoting Seafood Consumption competition | PrimeFish | Aqua-tnet | Scoop.it
A team composed by the students Yomar Sardón, David Redondo and Anatoly Komendrovskiy has won the Promoting Seafood Consumption competition with a video outlining the characteristics of seafood and the benefits of carrying a healthy and active life.

The video filmed in San Sebastian (Spain) links the choice of seafood to an active life that is enhanced by the healthiness, taste, and crowd-pleasing characteristics of these products. Filmed as publicity spot, the creators will now participate in the “Science-based Competitiveness and Policy Making for the European Seafood Sector” event with the researchers and stakeholders of the PrimeFish project and receive the 1,500 euros prize.

Aquaculture Industry Inverviews - The Aquaculture Communications Group, LLC

Aquaculture Industry Inverviews - The Aquaculture Communications Group, LLC | Aqua-tnet | Scoop.it

The Aquaculture Communications Group (ACG) has launched a project to capture the experience of veteran industry members in their own words and use high definition video and the Internet to carry their messages to the global community.

ACG funded the first round of interviews. A total of nineteen industry veterans with a wide range of personal experiences in different parts of the world were interviewed during Aquaculture America 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee. Each was asked four questions: 1) what attracted you to aquaculture, 2) what kept you interested (some would say addicted), 3) what significant developments have you participated in or observed, and 4) what do you think about the future of aquaculture as we move into the 21st century.

John Bostock's insight:

This looks a very useful resource for teachers and learners and is seeking wider funding support....

Workshop: Innovative Use of Video in Higher Education

Workshop: Innovative Use of Video in Higher Education | Aqua-tnet | Scoop.it

Video is everywhere today: it has entered our lives, transforming the way we live, work, learn, communicate and play. In education, video can be found at the heart and the helm of some of the most innovative trends in higher education: to achieve deeper learning during face-to-face time, as primary part of content in distance and blended learning situations, especially in MOOCs. This one day workshop aims to bring together some of the most innovative practitioners involved in providing video services in European Higher Education Institutions to discuss and exchange experiences, to highlight collective challenges and to explore opportunities for collaboration. It builds on the successful workshops held on lecture capture in Leuven in 2012 and 2013 prior to the Media & Learning Conference.

This full day pre-conference event is organised by the Media & Learning Association SIG on Video in Higher Education in association with the new SIG Media & Education from SURFnet in the Netherlands which brings together the previous work of the WEBstroom and Weblectures SIGs.

Location: Ministry of Education and Training, Brussels
19 November 2014, 10:00 - 17:15

Cost: €75 + VAT

John Bostock's insight:

A few places left at this workshop for anyone able to attend next week.
