BridgingApps Reviewed App: Touch-Numbers | BridgingApps | App Reviews | Scoop.it

This is a simple app that introduces the user to numbers and corresponding quantities of 1-20. You can use this app to help a child learn and recognize the numbers or to test their ability to answer the question, “How many?”. When the picture appears the adult or peer buddy can have the child tell them how many before touching the screen and having the number appear. This is an app that has errorless learning so the child can do it independently or can be used with an adult an used to test the child’s understanding of numbers 1-20.

BridgingApps Reviewed App: Pronouns With Splingo | BridgingApps

BridgingApps Reviewed App: Pronouns With Splingo | BridgingApps | App Reviews | Scoop.it

Pronouns with Splingo is an easy to use introduction to using pronouns. The app also helps students with gender identity using his, hers, he, she, him and her. We like using this app as it is a great segue to increasing sentence building. A possible IEP goal could be “When given written material, the student will identify the pronouns.”

BridgingApps Reviewed App: Hippo Seasons | BridgingApps | App Reviews | Scoop.it

This is a very simple, yet intriguing app. The main screen is a pinwheel with 4 parts, each part represents a different season. The user spins the pinwheel by swiping the screen and then when it stops they choose a season. Each season has its own sound effects and actions that go with that season, but all the user has to do to interact is touch the screen. It is also a useful and engaging cause and effect app for users just learning about interacting with a touch screen.

BridgingApps Reviewed App: Touch-Words | BridgingApps | App Reviews | Scoop.it

This is a very simple app to help increase the user’s vocabulary at the beginning stages of reading. All the user needs to be able to do is touch the screen. They can touch it in any form (whole hand or finger). A real-life picture of an object appears on the screen and then when the user touches the screen the word appears under the object. This app will help children learn new words and the meaning of the word. For those familiar with the See and Learn Language and Reading resources from Down Syndrome Education International, this app can be used to complement the use of their paper-based See and Learn activities.
