My Scoop on The Use of Water in Industry

Every day industries use thousands of millions of gallons of water for creating their products. Some productss require more water than others, but over all a large amount of our water is put into the industries. The industries use water for things such as fabricating, processing, washing, cooling, diluting, transporting or growing a product. All of these uses of water involve a system that uses water. These systems can be changed to conserve more water and still produce just as many products.

Another method of conserving water is by using better power sources, such as solar and wind power. Also, newer technologies allow companies to conserve more water by using less with their products or by creating more water. The systems in the industrial world can also be adjusted so that less water is needed to create the same amount of products. If less water is used in these industries less water will be let out as waste. Overall, industries use about five percent of the total water use.

Though, besides the large amount of water needed for industries, water use has decreased because of all the different types of water conservation. This will continue to improve, although the demand for more products will result in the demand for more water. It requires hundreds of gallons of water to create just small amounts of products. Agriculture is still the largest consumer of water, but the amount of water used in industries is still a large number. It is used for many different reasons in the industrial world,

Industrial water use in the United States. Basic information about Industrial water use, USGS Water Science for Schools.

The article describes different ways in which companies and factories use water to create their products. It also described how much water is used in each state for industries. Indiana was second after Louisana at 12 percent for total fresh surface water withdrawals. This percent is thousands of millions of gallons of water per day. This water is used for fabricating, processing, washing, diluting, cooling or transporting products.

A College Study uses Technology to Discover Industry Water Use | APES: The Use of Water in Industry | Scoop.it

Using a computer model, the researchers estimated water use among 400 industry sectors and found that most use occurs indirectly as a result of processing.

The article describes how Industry is the largest consumer of water and it describes how this water is applied to the different companies. An interesting fact from the article was that it requires 270 gallons of water to produce $1 worth of sugar. The article also described how most of the water is being applied to shipping and packaging products rather than producing them. Lastly, the article encourages readers to create new ideas for efficiently using water in industries.
