APES Human Hazards 02
This knowledge is fundamental to every human being. Don't just sit around not knowing what's harming you, because whoever said that ignorance is bliss was the most ignorant of them all. On a side note, we are also campaigning for Marasco 2012. Donations are STRONGLY encouraged.

Excessive sun exposure (AIHW)

It is well known that exposure is a determinant in how harmful a compound or substance is to human beings.  However, many people fail to completely grasp this concept.  One good example for beginners is exposure to sunglight.  This article describes the effects of prolonged exposure in this specific example.

Effects of Air Pollutants - Health Effects | Air Pollution Control Orientation Course | Air & Radiation | US EPA | APES Human Hazards 02 | Scoop.it

This article by the EPA (which Marasco will restore to full power once he is elected President) not only spells out the health effects of air pollutants, but also differentiates between the acute (short-term, sudden, and immediate) effects and the chronic (long-staying) effects of such pollutants.  This is a must read for everyone because it contains VALUABLE information about what we are inhaling.  This serves as a sign to mankind that we must CEASE our dependence on petroleum and look for sustainable, non-polluting alternatives because, at the end, it's OUR lives we're talking about.

Risk Assessment Diagram

Risk Assessment Diagram | APES Human Hazards 02 | Scoop.it

The above diagram may be simple at first, but one has to really think of all the risks and dilemmas people face. In one example, a consumer is worried if there is any risk in eating charcoal cooked steak every day. Studies show that such a behavior will carry some risk in the development of cancer, but the individual must assess how great this risk is and what he can do to lower it. These basic steps will allow one to easily assess his or her own risks.
