Top Obama adviser stakes out defiant defense on IRS, Benghazi, AP scandals

Top Obama adviser stakes out defiant defense on IRS, Benghazi, AP scandals | AP government year in news | Scoop.it
A top White House adviser staked out a defiant defense Sunday on a series of scandals that have hit the Obama administration, going so far as to say it was an “irrelevant fact” where the president was the night of the Benghazi terror attacks and...
hailey webster's insight:

In lieu of an article for 5/5/13-5/11/13 I am doing one for the trio or trinity of Obama administration scandals that are finally coming out. The IRS went after tea partiers, Benghazie is finally losing the blanket that has been covering it up and Obama had files on the AP aka his best friend. He bit the hand that has been feeing him, the media, so even the liberals are starting to come after him. The IRS, probably the most feared agency was wrongly used which really pisses people off and his foreign affairs credintials are being questioned. When he was reelected the only thing I could hope for is that people would see him for what him and his chicago style administration really is, and I think that is beginning to happen.

No Rich Child Left Behind

No Rich Child Left Behind | AP government year in news | Scoop.it
Family income is now a better predictor of children’s success in school than race.
hailey webster's insight:

Although this is not government, our government runs the education system in America so I think it's important. Now adays it is not race that determines whether you will do well in school or not, it is family income. People who have rich parents are more likely to become rich themselves regardless of race. This is the largest reason I hate that affirmative aciton is based on race, if we are trying to say sorry for what we did in the past then we should say sorry to everyone, not just minorities. It should be income level that affirmative action focuses on.

hailey webster's insight:

The North Korean crazies are back to their favorite hobby: threatening american and our allies. While Americans get to have their favorite hobby back too: making fun of North Korea trying to be tough. North Korea's new leader is trying to look tough and like he can't be bullied around like his father was. America does not want North Korea to be able to have Nucleur weapons or any weapon that could hit American bases.

A Republican Left Turn?

A Republican Left Turn? | AP government year in news | Scoop.it
Grover Norquist doesn’t think so, but other party strategists want to try it — no matter how it makes evangelicals feel.
hailey webster's insight:

With the general population becoming more and more socially liberal the republican party has a couple of choices, both of which are very risky. One is to stay socially conserative and divisive and hope to attract people who have strong morals come out to vote and lose the youth vote more and more to the democrats. Or, what I believe they should do is give up on the divisive issues that are imminent anyways and fight the good fiscal fight. Make the social field even and get the country back on track with solid footing financially.

Due to the fact that a pope has not resigned in over 500 years people were very surprised when Benedict did. Some people even questioned whether he had the right to resign or not. A pope usually would die and then be replaced but now a conclave has to form when the resigned pope is still alive.

Politics of Christie's Weight

Politics of Christie's Weight | AP government year in news | Scoop.it
All it took was a late-night, nationally televised bite of a doughnut for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to set off an uncomfortable three-day conversation about his weight.
hailey webster's insight:

quarter 3, week4 Although the weight of one man may seem trivial, we are talking about one of the most popular republicans in the country, and one of the most popular govenors. Chris Christe who has handled Huricane Sandy Disaster with grace and bipartisanship has been praised by both the republicans and democrats for being a strong conservative but not letting that get in the way of working with democrats to get a job done. If Mr. Christe wants a shot at being the next president the country is going to have to be convinced that his weight will not put him at risk of dying on the job.

Tougher Gun Law in New York

Tougher Gun Law in New York | AP government year in news | Scoop.it
The measure, which expands New York’s ban on assault weapons, was passed by the Legislature a month after the school massacre in Newtown, Conn.
hailey webster's insight:

Quarter 3, 1st week

New York State is the first state to take action after the sandy hook shooting. The state cracked down on the kind of guns people can own and the size of gun clips. The state also stregthened the control on people with mental illness 's ability to own guns. This is important since almost every recent shooting has involved someone who is not mentally right. This gun law is important because many other states and even the federal government are also considering impeding upon our second amendment rights. There has been a lot of backlash against the state's action.

It appears the best action may be to have more protection at school's for the children.
