Annapurna Trekking is interesting with its meaning “full of grain” which is known as the “Goddess of Harvest.” The farmers of Nepal receive irrigation water from the glaciers of Annapurna Himalaya to their farming land and it seems importance role to be the plenty of crops. Annapurna area spreads around Lamjung, Manang, Mustang and Kaski districts of central Nepal. It has been under-protected by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project /ACAP covers with an area of 7629 sq km. The five peaks in this area Annapurna I 8091m/26544ft, Annapurna II 7939m/26046ft, Annapurna III 7555m/24786ft, Annapurna IV 7525 m/24688ft and Annapurna South 7219m/23684 ft share the name of Annapurna Himalaya. Annapurna Trekking has been popular since 3 June 1950 when The French Expedition led by Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal first climbed this ten highest Mt. Annapurna I in the world. This was a historic moment in mountaineering history at first before the Mount Everest 8848m/29028ft. There are popular places including world deepest Kali Gandaki Gorge (6997m/22857ft deep), world biggest pass Thorong la (Pass 5416m/17768ft) and highest lake Tilicho (4919m/16138ft). The popular view point Poon Hill (3210m/10531ft), Annapurna South Base camp (4130m/13549ft), Manang village (3540m/11614ft), windy valley Jomsom (2710m/8891ft), Hindu Pilgrimage center Muktinath (3800m/12467ft) and hot spring Tatopani (1190m/3904ft) are in this route. Dhampus 1550m/5085ft, Sarankot 1592m/5223ft, Gurung village Sikles, Ghandruk village, Chhomrong village and Royal trek all are in Annapurna Trekking. The Tibetan types of Nepalese people, Thakalis, Gurungs, dominate the rain shadow area of Nepal, Mustang and Magars are in Annapurna area. The major rivers Marsyangdi, Kali Gandaki, Seti, Modi and Madi Rivers with valley are here. Annapurna Trekking area has 1226 species of plants, 102 species of mammals, 474 species of birds, 39 species of reptiles and 22 species of amphibians has identified. The famous snow leopards, blue sheep, yaks, mountain horses, multi-colored impheyan pheasants, various species of orchids and rhododendron flowers in the spring are the attractions of the Annapurna area. Annapurna Circuit trekking, Upper Mustang trekking, Nar and Fu trekking, Ghorepani-Poon Hill trekking, Annapurna Base Camp trekking, Dhampus-Sarankot trekking, Sikles trekking, Panchase trekking, Royal trekking, Tilicho trekking and Mardi Himal trekking are popular in Annapurna area.
