Here, in this article it explains how the spotify app has tools that people can use to judge music. It lets you share music, discover new music and subscribe for other music purposes. The spotify app is free for consumption to our digital era.

Luis Gomez's curator insight, December 6, 2014 11:27 PM

This article shows how influential can be a streaming service such as Spotify in the sharing process of a song, and how the company encourage people by providing the public playlists option.

I definitely think that spotify is a good way to promote material because people can share it easily to their friends, and it can become viral

Kikuchi Asaka's curator insight, September 13, 2015 11:31 PM

Accordance with this article, music platforms such as Spotify, Pandra, and Jango are mixing up the ways of enjoying music, which also makes it harder to predict which song is going to be a hit. When it comes to listening to music, people are shifting to use these free digital media but do not purchase physical things like CDs and vinyl. The article mentions the example of hit songs in New Zealand, and a female singer became super popular within two weeks after she released her songs in Spotify. This is the most interesting part of this new way of marketing in music business and I thnk I have to keep track of these new types of media.

Social Media Is Revolutionising The Music Industry - Business 2 Community

Social Media Is Revolutionising The Music Industry - Business 2 Community | animals | Scoop.it

As online streaming and download sites replace CD sales, analysing online consumer behaviour is increasingly important for labels as a way to identify how successful a band really is.

Doming Colas's curator insight, September 9, 2013 12:51 PM

This article shows how important and how much of an impact social media have on the music industry. It has more of a positive effect than negative. The pro to this is “brands will be able to measure the impact of their sponsorship and how they are perceived in relation to music”. The con to this is negative reviews from social media can equal low record sells.

Bianca Netto's curator insight, November 10, 2013 11:48 PM

If a well known celebrity makes a post about a new band their listening to, or a new movie they saw, people from around the world can know about it instantly. That celebrity's post can create so much buzz, essentially making or breaking someone else's career. Social media is a whole new ballgame for marketing.

Joanne Castillo's curator insight, January 14, 2014 6:27 PM

I agree with this article.  Social media has played a major role in the music industry.  From tweets to Facebook pages, people use these sites to share their opinions about the artist, band, etc., give insight on albums, and form their own communities.  Many users rely on social sites to get information on the music industry.

Peter Bunyaratavej's curator insight, September 13, 2015 3:38 PM

Personally I started to collect vinyl myself. It's really interesting how the sales since 2006 has been going up for this particular format. This generation all about (and this is my opinion) nostalgia. Everybody is more into the fashion during the 60's-80's, everybody want the particular haircut during the 70's. Apart from the certain crave that everybody has nowadays, there is a certain magic that vinyl plays apart of. When I started listening to the warm sound of vinyl I was eternally hooked to its cheap therapy and fantastic vintage element.

John Joseph's curator insight, October 7, 2015 2:35 AM

I like this visual aspect so people can physically see the difference instead of just reading the numbers.

I love this idea that people can personalize their track list. By listening to the regular radio station, I can have chance to listen to new music that I did not know. However, sometimes, they play some songs that I do not want to listen and they do not play what I want to listen. By personalizing my own track list, I can listen the song that I want all the time. I think this is really good idea to provide personalized radio station to the public.
