Why Walmart Must Help to End Antibiotic Abuse In Farming | Animal ... | Animal Sciences | Scoop.it
In this era of uninformed, “silver bullet” solutions to the plague that is industrial farming, it's great to see that Dan Imhoff—the author of the seminal book CAFO: The Tragedy of Industrial Animal Factories—is making a stand ...
Shelby L Ray's insight:

Dan Imhoff is making a stand against the reckless abuse of anitbiotics in industrial livestock production. He is trying to get Walmart to see what this could cause. Walmart is where most families go shopping to get their meat/livestock products. These antibiotics that are giving to the animals we eat, can cause health risks. This is one major step into protecting the people around us. Most Walmart meat suppliers fatten their animals in concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs), with tens of thousands of animals confined on barren dirt lots or indoors on slatted concrete or dirt floors. It is possible for disease outbreaks.

Chicken Meat Sold in USA Contains Arsenic

This article is talking about how the FDA confessed that chicken meat contains arsenic. How they tried to ignore the issue for many years. Arsenic is a chemical that can cause cancer and is lethal in large amounts. The arsenic is put in the chicken. It doesn't just appear there. The arsenic is put in the chicken food, which goes straight to the chicken meat once consumed. Then we consume it when we eat chicken meat. Arsenic can be deadly to us humans. The chicken food that contains the arsenic is now taken off the shelves so people can't buy it. Now they are saying it is okay for humans to consume arsenic, even though it risks us getting cancer.

They also said how its not okay to drink raw milk. Yet they state it is perfectly fine to ingest arsenic. The litter of chickens which contains arsenic which gets fed to the cows, ready to be butchered in factories. When cows eat the chickens, the arsenic builds up in the cows mass, which soon becomes hamburger. We consume hamburger. What will happen now? Will everyone who eats meat have a higher risk of getting cancer? Why are these products still being sold with arsenic in the product?
