No, Egyptians Aren't White... But They Aren't Black Either

No, Egyptians Aren't White... But They Aren't Black Either | Ancient civilization |
When the cast of Exodus: Gods and Kings—Ridley Scott's upcoming Biblical epic—was announced a lot of people made the complaint that the it was overwhelmingly white, a move they decried as both inaccurate and racist. They were right. Unfortunately, in response a lot of people have peddled another historical (and racist) error: that the ancient Egyptians were black and that modern Egyptians are imposters.
Amanda Duvall's insight:

Egyptians are a very historic society. We often try to say they were while or black when reality is they are Middle Eastern/ Jewish/ Arabian in ethnicity. Yes white is a northern European word and the rest of the world is colored, by why? What is wrong with saying Egyptian and harkening back to the time when we connected ourselves to a geographic area? I realize borders change, so speak of the border as it was in the time of the historical activity. If movies want to make ones about a historic time they should have researches who would help to learn what typical skin color was for that area at that time. Then fit the actor to that time.

Amanda Duvall's insight:

This article about Mesopotamia is very interging it talks about the Gods of Mesopotamia, there life style, and there culture. It also talks about what the word mesopotamia means in Greek which it means land between the rivers. It talks about how the ancient mesopotamians belived in the after life and also belived in demons.   There were alot of Gods but there were 5 major ones they were the Sun,Moon, wind, salt water, freshwater. Each city was protected by a God and each city had a Ziggurat which is a temple were the city preist would pray, chant, and make offerings to the Gods. Each year the peoples when they harvest there crops they pay crops as tax then the priest would offer the harvest to the Gods.
