Van Gogh Museum - Opening hours & admission fees

Van Gogh Museum - Opening hours & admission fees | Amsterdam two day quick guide | Scoop.it

A stark but well thought out museum. You really get a sense of Van Gogh's life and development as an artist. If you give yourself a good 2 hours you can absorb a passionate, intelligent, sad man's story through his incredible pictures. Standing 5 inches from the brushstrokes of masterpieces of his final phase isstaggering, you can feel his despair and darkness but ultimately you feel uplifted that he left us such an amazing body of work in such a a short artistic life. A must see. *****.

We bought a 24 hour city pass for 40 Euros which included a tonne of free museum entries, this was one of them plus free tram, free bus and free canal cruise plus discounts. You can make the pass worth it if you plan your route well. Buy them at the Tourist information left out of the front of Centraal Station.

Anne Frank - Welcome!

Anne Frank - Welcome! | Amsterdam two day quick guide | Scoop.it

Anne Frank's house (huis) is a poignant visit. The house has been kept as it was when Anne and her family hid for 2 years in a couple of rooms in a secret Annexe. Her story is incredible, moving and sad, yet positive and proud. The museum doesn't  shy away from the horrors of the Nazis ethnic cleansing policy in Amsterdam but is suitable for school children and up. It has video footage of the survivors of the story and a shop. Follow the link  for the details of the entrance price. No big bags or filming allowed and steep stairs (like most of the houses!).This attraction is not on the city pass offer. *****
