President Obama said that mother's should be able to get maternity leave. Other countries do it and he wants to also, he argues that mothers sometimes don't even get paid leave to give birth. Also, Sgt. Ryan Pitts was awarded the Medal of Honor for jumping on a grenade to save his teammates lives.

McCain spoke out against Obama's actions in rect activity in Iraq. He said that we were winning in 2007 and we should have kept going but Obama's actions of pulling our troops out of Iraq made us "lose". He also claimed that all the activity going on now would not be happening if we left troops overseas. The polls are almost even from the people whether we should be helping other countries or only act when it's a threat to national security.

Alan Elsner says Israel must carefully consider its reaction to the tragic murders of three teens, finding justice without taking it out on innocents.
Kurt's insight:
Three teens were murdered in Israel during this. Israel-Palestinian conflict. The best solution for them is to not escalate the situation in revenge but to try and stop all the violence. More people are dying from the conflicts and actions need to be taken to work this out and find peace. Innocent civilians should not be dying.

Now that we took out the targets in Iraq with bombs we are making an attempt to form a new government in Iraq. Establishing a new government would be beneficial because it would take less off of us and they could start to support themselves. ISIL targets are still pushing but we have slowed them. The U.S. Has also sent 150 new troops in Iraq and we have boots on the ground again.

Joni Ernst is a combat veteran of the Iraq war and she is running for election. She wants to pass a bill to stop sexual harassment in the military. She had been sexually harassed herself and she wants it to end. Sexual harassment is a big deal in the military right now.

An 18 year-old black student was shot in Ferguson, Missouri. Reporters and the news are jumping straight into calling this a racist act. Investigations are being done to find out what really happened in the shooting. They had a good argument though, that reporters love to jump to call something racist when it may not even be the truth.

Congress approves another $225 million for Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system.
Kurt's insight:
The U.S. Approved $225 million for new missiles to help defend Israel. This could have been done to gain more power in the upcoming elections in November. Defending Israel is what we need to do even though it is another expensive thing adding to the national debt. We are now building more missiles and helping Israel with a plan to defend themselves.
