Where To Find Good Alternative Sources for Content Curation | all about scoopit | Scoop.it

Robin Good: If you are looking for ways to expand your horizon of content sources that you can use to find valuable content for your curated news channel, Pawan Deshpande, founder and CEO of Curata, has done an excellent job of listing and describing the many alternatives available to you.

While many beginner curators rely on their set of RSS feeds and on simple web searches to find new and interesting stuff on their topic of interest, there are a dozen more content source types that can be tapped to find relevant stuff. This article helps you start learning where to look to find them.

Useful. Resourceful. 8/10

Scoop.it founder talks about the business model behind curation [video]

TheNextWeb Video by Hermione Way:

"Yesterday, we covered the world-wide launch of publishing platform Scoop.it- the company came out of private beta and graced the rest of the world with a tool that allows you to publish content without blogging. We spoke to Scoop.it’s CEO Guillaume Decugis who told us about the revenue model for Scoop.it which will be a monthly subscription model. Compared to the traditional model of becoming a publisher which required huge capital in setting up a newspaper, Scoop.it allows anyone to become a news outlet and share it on their social networks."

While there are a ton of essential skills that today's students need in order to succeed in tomorrow's world, learning to efficiently manage -- and to evaluate the reliability of -- the information that they stumble across online HAS to land somewhere near the top of the "Muy Importante" list.

I see this helping to create a PLN Personal Learning Network

bookwarrior's curator insight, February 7, 2013 2:32 PM

This educator describes how Scoop.it can be the tool by which you teach students to gather, manage, and evaluate information. I 100% agree with his caveat at the bottom that Scoop.it doesn't do the teaching but because it is so simple and seamless and allows for so much interaction and feedback between student curator and instructor, it is the perfect medium for it.

Hi gdecugis! Thank you for your ansewer. My problem with Buffer is that I don't see the way you can create/edit the title of the post. When you see published post on Facebook, it's a block of text without title. This is against my undersatnding of content publishing. I will never read a block of text If I don't know what's about... will you?
Guillaume Decugis's comment, September 21, 2012 12:50 PM
But you can change the title of the post on Scoop.it: that's what Buffer will publish on Facebook then. And you can add your own Facebook comment on top like you would for any Facebook post. If you don't, there might be a specific issue with your account that we'd be happy to look at (send us a screenshot via http://feedback.scoop.it). It works fine on our end and behaves just like standard Facebook sharing but let us know if we have to fix something. Thanks!

Hi gdecugis! I'm so sorry! I was wrong understanding Buffer! I have taken the time to undersand it and now I'm on the way... Thank you!
