First Look: The Great Gatsby

First Look: The Great Gatsby | All About Entertainment | Scoop.it

Here's a look at the poster for the much anticipated film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 'The Great Gatsby'. Oscar nominees Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan play Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan in the film opening on Christmas day. A little bit of a surprise to me--the film is coming out in 3D. I'm a little skeptical about it being in 3D, but we'll just have to see how it plays out come December.

Snow White and the Huntsman Trailer

On June 1st, 'Snow White and the Huntsman' comes to theatres. The movie stars Kristen Stewart as Snow White and Charlize Theron as The Wicked Queen. Last month, 'Mirror Mirror' starring Julia Roberts came out. While the two movies are about the original Brothers Grimm princess, they are both very different. 'Mirror' was a a lighter comedy for the whole family, while 'Snow White and the Huntsman' is a much darker, grittier take on the fairytale. Check out the trailer.

This database entry (originally from the 2002 book Pop Culture of the 20th-Century America) provides a good insight to film noir and the time period surrounding it. Film noir is a french term that translates to "dark cinema." Film noir movies were generally shot in black and white and had some aspect of dark crime and violence in the 20th century.

Mitch Hurwitz Talks Arrested Development 2.0

Mitch Hurwitz Talks Arrested Development 2.0 | All About Entertainment | Scoop.it

Something I am very excited about next year is the new series of 'Arrested Development'. The show ran for three seasons when it was unexpectedly canceled, much to the dissapointment of the beloved fans. Next year, a whole new season will be released. Chief of Netflix, Ted Sarandos, reported that all 10 episodes of the season would go up on Netflix on one day next year. Although, there were no updates on the status of the movie. Personally, I'm really excited for this new season because I love the show. It's fun and crazy, but that just makes it all the more hilarious. Several months ago I watched the whole series in the span of a couple weeks (all 3 seasons are on Netflix), and I was so dissapointed that there wasn't anymore of the show for me to wacth after the end of the third season. But my wishes will be granted come next year, and I know it'll be great.
