Over time, our society's notion of success has been reduced to money and power. How do you measure success?

Sarah Frame's curator insight, March 31, 2014 5:00 AM

Love this! Especially like the bit about what is said in a funeral eulogy. I am mindful though that it isn't always easy to make adjustments 'for a better life' when we are striving to keep jobs, meet targets, stay afloat financially, make relationships work etc. When I was juggling bringing up a young family and building a career, the last thing I really needed was someone saying I needed to make time for me too! But at least be kind to yourself, stop expecting more of yourself than you do of others, accept you will make mistakes and celebrate being able to pick yourself up, admit it and move on,sometimes the best we can do is muddle through. I often didn't recognise that good enough was in fact good enough.

Nine Things Successful People Do Differently

Nine Things Successful People Do Differently | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

Why have you been so successful in reaching some of your goals, but not others? If you aren’t sure, you are far from alone in your confusion. It turns out that even brilliant, highly accomplished people are pretty lousy when it comes to understanding why they succeed or fail. The intuitive answer — that you are born predisposed to certain talents and lacking in others — is really just one small piece of the puzzle. In fact, decades of research on achievement suggests that successful people reach their goals not simply because of who they are, but more often because of what they do.
