Why you think you're right -- even if you're wrong

Why you think you're right -- even if you're wrong | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
Perspective is everything, especially when it comes to examining your beliefs. Are you a soldier, prone to defending your viewpoint at all costs -- or a scout, spurred by curiosity? Julia Galef examines the motivations behind these two mindsets and how they shape the way we interpret information, interweaved with a compelling history lesson from 19th-century France. When your steadfast opinions are tested, Galef asks: "What do you most yearn for? Do you yearn to defend your own beliefs or do you yearn to see the world as clearly as you possibly can?"

Who are you, really? The puzzle of personality | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

Join Little as he dissects the surprising differences between introverts and extroverts and explains why your personality may be more malleable than you think.

O que torna uma vida boa? Lições do estudo mais longo sobre a felicidade | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

Kathleen Taylor has spent over 20 years as a counselor and community engagement facilitator for the dying and has found that in the last chapter of their lives, most people become their authentic selves. They become courageous - they change their minds, apologize, forgive... they find joy in the smallest moments. In this TEDx talk, Taylor urges us not to wait until we are at the end of our lives to find our true selves.

Tan Teck Ling's curator insight, June 30, 2013 9:42 AM

This is my Insight using Step Inside thinking routine,

I felt that the speaker has stated very important aspects that individuals should have in order to be successful and it also encourages me to persevere on and not give up on just one failure and cower in fear for another failure in an aspect of life.
The speaker is trying to tell listeners that it is not the standard IQ that determines the success of an individual, but their ability to persevere once again for a better change in life.
The speakers used results from her research on successful people to prove the importance of a factor that affects success and it would allow others to be enlightened by this and strive again for the better.
