Life is too short to be average.

Ask yourself if you are settling for the same as everyone else.

Choose to be more. Choose to be something better. Choose to be above average.

48 Variables That Make the Biggest Difference in Your Life - Self Stairway

48 Variables That Make the Biggest Difference in Your Life - Self Stairway | All About Coaching | Scoop.it
48 practical actions you can experiment with to improve yourself. From building confidence to learning how to socialize.
Ariana Amorim's insight:

From this post:

Conversion Rate Optimization, or CRO, is the practice of finding ways to increase the effectiveness of a specific goal. It is usually applied in marketing.

What does CRO have to do with self-improvement?

Just like CRO, no advice or change in a variable is universal. Something that may work for one person may not help you. There are an infinite amount of complexities that affect how things unfold for you.

Second, one small change may end up being the defining factor, but you’ll never know until you implement and track the results, so always be testing.

Third, life is rarely as simple as changing just one small thing. It is possible, but you shouldn’t count on one golden formula. It may end up being a large combination of different things.

There are 48 different things you can try...

12 Variables for Building Confidence

12 Variables for Building Happiness

12 Variables for Improving Your Socializing Skills and Making Friends

12 Variables for Improving Your Physical Appearance

60 Inconvenient Personal Development Truths

60 Inconvenient Personal Development Truths | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

I know you want to be the best you can be. We all do. But sometimes we look for success in the wrong places or we try to achieve it in the wrong ways.

Here are 60 inconvenient truths about personal development to help you stay on track.

The acquisition of knowledge doesn’t mean you’re growing. Growing happens when what you know changes how you live. You can’t have good ideas unless you’re willing to generate a lot of bad ones.A good idea without action is nothing at all. It’s not so much about finding opportunities as it is about creating them.10% of our lives is decided by uncontrollable circumstances. 90% is decided by how we react to those circumstances. What we don’t start today won’t be finished by tomorrow. If you’re waiting for the perfect conditions, ideas or plans to get started, you’ll never achieve anything.

Re-invent Yourself

Re-invent Yourself | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

What can you learn from the latest findings of the exciting field of neurosciences in order to grow, to evolve, and to even re-invent yourself? To truly re-invent yourself!

A neurological Roadmap to Personal Change and Growth
Most thoughts are ideas that we make up and then come to believe. Believing merely becomes a habit. Repetitive thoughts might determine – think of computer programs running in the background all day – our lives. The good news: Since you are the one who operates the programs, you could elect to change or even delete them. Curious how to do it?

Ariana Amorim's insight:

A summary of the main ideas:

The more often we focus on something and think of it, the more real it will become. As such we can mold and shape the neurological framework of the self by the repeated attention we give to any one thing.

When the body responds to a thought by having a feeling, this initiates a response in the brain which constantly monitors and evaluates the status of the body. In response to that bodily feeling, the brain generates thoughts that produce corresponding chemical messengers; you begin to think the way you are feeling:

'Thinking creates feeling, and the feeling creates thinking, in a continuous cycle.

We can change (and thus, evolve) ourselves and our brains, so that we no longer fall into those repetitive, habitual, and often unhealthy reactions that are produced as a result of our genetic inheritance and our past experiences. We can achieve it with will and determination. By making a conscious decision in our neocortex. How does it work in reality?

Step 1 – Understand the Notion that “Thoughts are real“

Step 2 - Fight against the notion that your thoughts are uncontrollable

Step 3 – Start questioning old Beliefs

Step 4 – Step out of Routines

Step 5 – Speculate and explore

Step 6 – Gather information

Step 7 – Rehearse every day

Want To Conquer A New Skill? Do It Every Day

Want To Conquer A New Skill? Do It Every Day | All About Coaching | Scoop.it

At the intersection of psychology and productivity lies a simple truth: To do something well, you must embrace quantity.

Via Kenneth Mikkelsen
Ariana Amorim's insight:

I found the story of Karen X. Cheng truly inspiring. Here's a glimpse of what she writes about her experience (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daC2EPUh22w) :

"This isn't a story about dancing, though. It's about having a dream and not knowing how to get there — but starting anyway. Maybe you're a musician dreaming of writing an original song. You're an entrepreneur dying to start your first venture. You're an athlete but you just haven't left the chair yet.

When you watch someone perform, you're seeing them at the top of their game. When they score the winning point or sell their company for millions — you're seeing them in their moment of glory. What you don't see is the thousands of hours of preparation. You don't see the self doubt, the lost sleep, the lonely nights spent working. You don't see the moment they started. The moment they were just like you, wondering how they could ever be good."

John Michel's curator insight, August 31, 2013 3:21 AM

When you're learning a new skill--whether developing dance moves or websites--quantity is way more important than quality.
