Jun Yoshitani's insight:

Algae have been ecologically engineering the planet for billions of years. Today, they represent the largest sustainable source of biomass on the planet. Algae can supply food proteins, industrial raw materials like cellulose and biofuel, and remediate wastewater. To take advantage of the enormous value algae offers, supplemental energy in addition to sunlight is required and applied systematically.  Solar energy is the preferred and probably the only source of supplemental energy that can fully and ecnonomically enable ubiquitous cultivation of algae for beneficial value added purposes.
