Marijuana survey finds medical users more likely to consume edibles and vaporize (USA)

A new study provides some of the first evidence about patterns of marijuana use in states that have legalized medical marijuana. It finds that medical marijuana users are more likely to vaporize or consume edible forms of the drug than recreational users. Researchers also found that 41 percent of people reported having used marijuana recreationally at least once, while only about 7 percent reported using marijuana for medical purposes.

THE worsening ice epidemic has set police and hospital staff against each other as potentially violent users fall between the cracks in the system. As reported in todays Herald Sun, police are being forced to babysit ice users under the Mental Health Act until they are transferred to the care of psychiatrists.

Today's Herald Sun editorial calls for introduction of PSO's in hospitals to protect staff from methamphetamine related violence. It's important to remember that alcohol is still responsible for the great majority of violence in Emergency Departments, also that methamphetamine use does not equal violence. We've never had more methamphetamine presentations within our services and our rates of violent incidents are at an all-time low.

Methanol being sold as ethanolis a common cause of alcohol poisoning amongst Aussie tourists, but intentionally drinking petrol is another matter. This is just a very, very bad idea.

CVS Health Corp said it would make the opioid overdose antidote, naloxone, available without a prescription at all its pharmacies across Ohio, a state with one of the highest rates of overdose-related deaths.
