Ahead of a planned national referendum on recreational marijuana use, the New Zealand Government is clearing the way for terminally ill patients to access cannabis without facing the possibility of prosecution.

Meth playing bigger role in US drug overdose crisis

A bigger share of U.S. drug overdose deaths are being caused by methamphetamine, government health officials reported.
ReGenUC's insight:

CDC data for 2011-2016 shows that, while fentanyl was responsible for the highest number of overdose deaths, the proportion of deaths involving methampehtamine doubled in that period (from 5% to 11%).

The trial of the medically supervised injecting centre in Kings Cross was opened in 2001.

While we've been mourning the loss of one great woman, we've missed recognising another. Ann Symonds was a committed and effective advocate for drug policy reform and for the vulnerable and marginalised within NSW. She played a key role in securing the establishment of the Sydney Medically Supervised Injecting Centre, as well as many other groundbreaking initiatives. Her humanity and her passion will be sorely missed.
