How Sydney's drug lords went global

How Sydney's drug lords went global | Alcohol & other drug issues in the media | Scoop.it
Their weapon of choice is the Blackberry, and it's helping Sydney's drug distributors make so much profit they're not bothered by losing the odd shipment - or drug runner.

ReGenUC's insight:

The fact that there is no reported discussion of the role harm reduction initiatives (like NSPs) play in the prevention of new HCV (and other bloodborne viruses) shows just how far US drug policy has to go before it can provide a practical, evidence based response to the country's opioid crisis.

A PENNSYLVANIA coroner believes a 69-year-old grandmother who died earlier this month likely came into contact with a deadly substance while cleaning up her son’s drug paraphernalia.
ReGenUC's insight:

There's no confirmation of what substance was involved, but it sounds like carfentanil, which can lead to an overdose as a result of contact with the skin. As he comes under growing local and international pressure to end his campaign of extrajudicial executions, he continues to rely on populism to shore up electoral support.
