This article states that both CD sales have dropped 14.1% from last year. It also says that digital album sales have declined as well. However, the streaming revenue has increased in 2013. I think this show part of the reason album sales are slowly declining more and more each year.

In 2013 there was a decline in both album sales and digital sales because streaming services work off subscriptions and people dont have to purchase the music

As streaming increases, sales decrease. This is my exact fear as an upcoming producer and artist. Less sales equals smaller budgets for recording and production.

There has been a gradual decrease in sales each quarter of 2013. The second half of 2013 has been much lower in terms of album sales compared to the first half.

My generation will never experience going to the record store and having to buy the physical album. With our computers any genre of music is right at our fingertips.

The internet is the new wave for streaming music. When it comes to purchasing your favorite artists album from the store, this new world would rather find sites for songs to listen to for free such as pandora, Spotify and youtube. This is the reason that album sales have declined to a figure of 4.68 million.
