Aikido: martial art or way of personal development

Aikido: martial art or way of personal development | Aikido et Management | Scoop.it
Is Aikido a Martial Art or a form of personal development?

Aikido is a Japanese martial Art that stresses self-defense by harmonizing with an attack and controlling the attacker by joint locks or their own momentum.

One of the main concepts in aikido is the blending of your ki (spirit or energy) with that of your partner.

Because blending with your partner's power means there is no competition or conflict between you, aikido does not require a great deal of physical strength and is therefore a Japanese martial art that anyone at any age can do.

Change Management vs. Change Leadership - What's the Difference?

Change Management vs. Change Leadership - What's the Difference? | Aikido et Management | Scoop.it

John Kotter talks about the difference between change management and change leadership.

I am often asked about the difference between “change management” and “change leadership,” and whether it’s just a matter of semantics. These terms are not interchangeable. The distinction between the two is actually quite significant. Change management, which is the term most everyone uses, refers to a set of basic tools or structures intended to keep any change effort under control. The goal is often to minimize the distractions and impacts of the change. Change leadership, on the other hand, concerns the driving forces, visions and processes that fuel large-scale transformation.

In this video, Kotter delves a little deeper into the differences between the two concepts, and highlight why we need more change leadership today.

Aikido Principles for Leadership - FutureU™

Aikido Principles for Leadership - FutureU™ | Aikido et Management | Scoop.it

For many organizational leaders, the experience of managing large-scale change is akin to rebuilding a crowded boat on a stormy sea.

Conflicting agendas, complex issues, and high emotions can swamp even the most promising initiative.

Under these circumstances, traditional management skills are seldom enough to keep even the most dedicated change managers on course.
